Airlift
Airlift (2016) is a powerful story of courage, responsibility, and unexpected heroism, inspired by real events. The film follows Ranjit Katyal (played by Akshay Kumar), a wealthy Indian businessman living a comfortable life in Kuwait. When Iraq invades Kuwait in 1990, Ranjit’s world is turned upside down. As chaos spreads and thousands of Indians are left stranded, Ranjit—once indifferent to his roots—finds himself becoming their unlikely leader.
Faced with war, bureaucracy, and dwindling hope, he risks everything to organize the largest civilian evacuation in history. Airlift isn’t just about politics or war—it’s about one man rediscovering his identity and humanity in the face of crisis. With his wife Amrita (Nimrat Kaur) by his side, Ranjit transforms from a self-centered businessman into a selfless savior. The film is a stirring reminder that sometimes, ordinary people rise to extraordinary heights when humanity calls.
