Vadh
Vadh (2022) is a gripping tale of desperation, dignity, and the quiet rage of an ordinary man pushed beyond his limits. Set in Gwalior, the film follows Shambhunath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra), a retired schoolteacher, and his wife Manju (Neena Gupta), who live a modest life after mortgaging their home to fund their son’s education in the U.S. Their hopes for support are dashed when their son becomes indifferent, leaving them to face mounting debts.
Their lives take a darker turn when Prajapati Pandey (Saurabh Sachdeva), a menacing loan shark, begins to harass them relentlessly. The situation escalates when Pandey makes a vile demand involving one of Shambhunath’s young students. In a moment of moral reckoning, Shambhunath commits an unthinkable act to protect the innocent. As he meticulously covers his tracks, the film delves into the psychological turmoil of a man grappling with guilt, justice, and the lengths one will go to uphold personal integrity.
